Overview

The CALLA Lab at UC Riverside is dedicated to conducting research on understanding the drivers of cognitive development and decline across the human lifespan with respect to learning and attention. A better understanding of these issues may help learners maximize their learning potential at any age. We use neural (EEG, MRI) and behavioral (eye-tracking, accuracy/reaction time) responses to investigate these issues from infancy to older adulthood. Our research program 1) applies research with infants and children to optimize learning in older adulthood, and 2) investigates how younger and older learners use previously acquired knowledge to figure out what to learn. Using infant learning to inform adult learning and vice versa has the greatest promise to lead to discoveries about optimal learning strategies that can be applied throughout the lifespan.
